"I heard The Rolling Stones were doing a gig at the Roundhouse. I didn’t have ticket or pass. Waving my camera I blagged my way in (you could still do that in 1971). Underfoot was compacted earth, an old farm cart was being pushed worryingly close to the packed crowd. I was able to get fairly close to the stage which had been set near the centre of the arena. Shooting from the floor over peoples heads with a 135mm lens on my Nikormat: hand-held, wide open aperture, two rolls of Tri-X pushed a stop or two; photography inspired by music."
