"Of all my captures, my personal favourites are those that encapsulate a feeling. They are the ones that I can rely on to conjure up memories: the musk of smoke, a room pulsating with flashing lights, the heat generated by an electric crowd. There are some bands that you like, but don’t realize you love until you’re crouched under the shelter of a photo barricade - torn between capturing the spectacle in front of you, and sheltering your camera from the flailing limbs that crowd surf above your head. The Dirty Nil is one of those bands, and for me, this photo encapsulates that moment of realization."
