"I photographed Pretenders two or three times during their visits to Toronto in the early 1980's. Song writer, musician and de-facto band leader, Chrissie Hynde was the main feature of the group. She was not particularly fond of attention or even being photographed, preferring to let the music be up front. Photographing her took a bit of work whether on or off stage. The Pretender gigs I photographed had festival seating and no air conditioning which meant a sweating, Herculean effort to get a decent vantage point near the stage. The band did not have flattering stage lighting and I often had to resort to using a flash."
