"Father John Misty had a big year in 2015 which is widely successful album 'I Love You Honeybear' and sold-out shows. I was eager to photograph him because he has the reputation of being very funny, outgoing, and possessing a certain level of mystique. Unfortunately, I felt a little restricted with not having pit access during his set at last year's Field Trip Music Festival. The upside to shooting from the crowd was being able to capture the entire set. After the first three songs the pit emptied out and Father John Misty jumped onto the amps, into the pit and started interacting with the crowd. It’s difficult to explain how he interacts with his fans at a show because because he impulsively does whatever comes to mind; such as putting his microphone down his pants and gyrating. His fans are mesmerizing to photograph as well because they treat him just like his namesake - a religious saviour - while they are his devoted followers. The whole performance was incomparable and he really lived up to his reputation."
