"D'Angelo and The Vanguard performed a one-off show in New York City, March 2015, accompanied by Jesse Johnson, the legendary guitarist for The Time. D'Angelo is a very vocal admirer of Prince and the associated Minneapolis Sound of which Johnson was an essential component. It was a beautiful sight to see many times throughout the set, as D'Angelo would turn and watch Johnson on guitar, and groove as a fan, before stepping up and joining him as a contemporary."
