"This tour was a turning point for Springsteen. The album and tour ‘Darkness On The Edge of Town’, released in 1978, 3 years after ‘Born To Run’, was the result of months of rehearsal, recording and self imposed exile as he and his band toughed out nasty litigation that delayed his return to the studio. This tour was intense and unflagging. Knowing what he had come through to get here made the performances all the more exciting. Bruce is pictured here after leaving the stage to join the audience. It was a great moment to capture and I always took the opportunity to photograph him at this point in his shows."
