Louis Armstrong by Barrie Wentzell

"The Melody Maker had started in 1946 as a professional musicians paper and Louis Armstrong must have been featured in the early issues. Our resident jazz writer on the paper was Max Jones. He knew Billy Holiday, Louis and many other great jazzers personally. It was always a pleasure going along with him to interview these people. Even though when this image was made in concert at the Victoria Palace during a Melody Maker jazz show, which was at the height of flower power, jazz and King Louis still ruled."
