"Festival d’été de Québec is one of my favourite places to be, it’s a festival I make a point of attending every summer. But last year, I was feeling discouraged with photography. Concert photography can be tough, as most gigs are unpaid and we pour our hearts into what can often be a thankless job. Having been burnt out from taking on too many opportunities, the festival weekend was putting a strain on my wellbeing. But when the music started, I put my best effort into capturing the magic of the set, and the adrenaline of shooting a fast-paced show kicked in. The next day I woke up to a notification on my phone to see Cyndi Lauper had shared my photo on Instagram! It’s always encouraging when artists recognize your work, and even more so when it’s a legend like her. It was a small gesture which gave me enough excitement to keep me going for the rest of the weekend."
