"Dave Grohl and I have always had good timing. I’ve been photographing Foo Fighters for over 20 years, and on every tour there are magical moments when we're both in the right place at the right time. This was one of those moments.

Halfway through the show I took a stroll around back of the stage to see if there were any interesting angles. At this particular show they didn’t use a backdrop and had seats behind the stage, but I quickly realized that there were only seats in the upper levels otherwise you wouldn’t be able to see over the band’s gear.

I turned around to go back to the front when I heard the crowd erupt behind me. I looked up and there was Dave standing atop an 8 foot speaker stack, a good 12 feet above the arena floor. He stayed up there just long enough for me to take a couple of pictures, and then he was gone."
